How can we get excited about maintaining our transportation infrastructure? [VIDEO]
As Last Week Tonight with John Oliver pointed out, we love to celebrate the inauguration of new roads, bridges and rails, but we don't get excited about the everyday maintenance that keeps our transportation infrastructure in safe, working condition. We followed a road maintenance crew for a day and brought along some ribbon, giant scissors and cake to see if we could change that.
If you've ever wondered why our roads and transit systems seem to be in worse shape these days, the answer is simple: we're spending less and less on them every year. We need to reverse that trend and start investing the proper amount to maintain and improve the roads and rails we rely on every day.
